December Daily 7th - 10th

The Christmas crunch is crunching more and more everyday. Here is my December Daily pages from the 7th through the 10th.

I'm not sure you can read the journaling but the 7th is a day I'll never forget as long as I live. That's the day in 2007 that I lost my Mother. That Christmas was full of emotion as you can imagine. I explained a little about that day here as well as sharing the yearly newsletter we get from my cousin Kay.

The 8th through the 10th were all about shopping, baking, and decorating. Of course the decorating included playing with my camera too.

December Daily Catch Up

Here are my pages from December 3rd through the 6th. Sometimes I don't have the right light in the house to take photos of my pages, depending on what time of day I get them done, so I cheated tonight and used my flash. Ahhhhhh!

December 3rd - I spent the day doing a little more decorating and playing with my camera and capturing bokeh. I just love the photo with the angel and the tree lights creating the bokeh in the background.

December 4th - As I work on my decorating, I try to do some de-cluttering and organizing as I go. I ran across Christmas books from my own childhood. They are quite worn now but it brought back memories of how my great grandmother used to buy me a Little Golden Book from the corner store every month.

December 5th ended up being mainly about the weather as we're getting snow, a little more every day. So I bundled up and braved the elements to capture some of our wintry weather.

December 6th was all about beginning the gift wrapping process. I get bored very quickly wrapping, so if I start early and do some off and on throughout the day, it's not as bad. Same with deciding and getting the supplies to make all the goodies. So I spent the morning going through old magazines and making a list of ingredients for all the yummy things I'd like to make this year.

I finally let go of the need to be on my computer every single day! I let go in order to enjoy life outside of this room, to go outdoors, to concentrate on my photography and have fun with my grandchildren.

#Reverb10 - Wonder

This was the prompt for December 4th.
Prompt: Wonder. How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?
I believe my sense of wonder came from using my camera on an almost daily basis. With each passing day or week, I was learning new techniques and seeing things differently and now I truly look at things through different eyes.

I've been keeping up with all my online classes so far, just not blogging them. So I'll start by posting my last 3 days of Journal Your Christmas with Shimelle for December 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

I try following all Shimelle's prompts but it's not a requirement if it doesn't fit for us. The most important part is to journal, whether it follows the prompts or not. That I can do! I'm loving the fact that I'm writing everyday and hopefully it'll make me a better journaler in my scrapping as well.

#Reverb10 - Moment

December 3 – Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).

Grandchildren
I was fortunate enough to have spent alot of time with my grandchildren this past summer, the youngest being 1 year old at this time. But what I remember most and what made me feel most alive is holding that sweet baby in my arms. Babies are just naturally so soft and have that baby smell, so heavenly! He has his own distinctive laugh and just having him with me along with the other grandchildren is what life is all about, full circle!

#Reverb10 - Writing

"What do you do each day that doesn't contribute to your writing and can you eliminate it?

My one word is "busyness". Now Dictionary.com says "busyness" is:
-noun
1. the quality or condition of being busy.
2. lively but meaningless activity

I can hear my husband laughing now with #2. That's what HE says. I am busy all the time but to me, it's never meaningless. You see, I'm a digital scrapper, a digital designer for The Nifty Boutique, and this month, I'm only involved in 6 different online projects, let alone having to do all the decorating for Christmas, all the shopping, and the every day housework chores too. So, yes, I'm busy and I guess where I'm going with this is the fact that I'm busy keeps me from writing. Can I eliminate something?

Well that depends on whether you ask ME or my husband. I SURE won't be eliminating any of my Holiday projects! Looks like leftovers or take out a couple nights a week at least!

Catching up posting here with my December Daily album. I'm really working out of my comfort zone on this album because it's hybrid. I've been totally digital for quite some time but I'm soooooo loving this project led by Ali Edwards! You can find out what it's all about HERE.

Here are the pages I've done for December 1st and 2nd. Please excuse the quality of the photos. I should've changed lenses AND upped my ISO. The REAL photos on these pages are much better, just not the photos OF the photos. Ahhh geez, you know what I mean.

Journal Your Christmas - Day 1

Our prompt from Shimelle for Day 1 of Journal Your Christmas was to prepare our Manifesto. I've decided to use the wonderful 8x8 downloads Shimelle made available to KISS - or in my case - KMCS - Keep My Christmas Simple. Then when I'm done, I can just scoot onto one of the online photobook places and have several printed all at once, one for me and maybe one for my children. I've extended myself once again only because there's soooooo many great Holiday Classes and Projects going on right now and I just can't choose one or two, oh nooooooooo, I have to do them ALL! BUT, I'm loving it all the same. If I can just keep up, thus the KMCS!!

Metamorphosis and Variety

Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year ahead.
You get a daily one word prompt. You then come up with what your one word response to that prompt would be now and what your one word would be for this time next year.

I've chosen the word Metamorphosis for 2010. My life went through a huge change with Gene's retirement and I also had the opportunity to spend time with my grandchildren more than ever before this past summer.

My word for this time next year would be Variety. Variety is the spice of life, right? I'm hoping that we'll be able to travel the country and see things we've never seen before, spend quality time together AND spend even MORE time with my children and grandchildren as well as the rest of my family.

Journal Your Christmas

I just went to the private forum and found a TON of digital goodies for us to use in our journals. I am soooo excited about the Holidays this year, not only seeing family and friends but actually using both these classes to bring back the REAL Christmas Season and its meaning. And here's a really cool logo that'll remain on my sidebar too.

Hybrid Holidays

December Daily

This is my first year doing Ali Edward's "December Daily". I'm anxious to get started and have completed my front cover and will be setting up my inside pages in preparation for documenting the Holidays. I'm thinking of beginning my book with the day after Thanksgiving as this is the day I normally put up my tree.
I'm also doing Shimelle's "Journal Your Christmas" so I'll have plenty of photos and journaling for my Holidays this year and something to look back on for years to come for not only myself but my children and grandchildren.
Here's a photo of my front cover and I'll blog my other pages as I get them completed. I purchased Teresa Collins' "Noel" Album kit from Scrapbook.com with the covers measuring 7x10. I'm using Ali Edward's 2010 December 6x8 Overlays for the inside pages.
I hope you'll stop back to see how my album progresses this Holiday Season.

Toy Story 3

I watched Toy Story 3 today with my soon-to-be 3 year old grandson. I'm going to admit that I cried at the end when he gave all his toys to another child to take care of. I just felt like I had to blog this and probably write it in my journal too because I don't want to forget how I felt and all the memories flooding my mind.
It wasn't the movie that made me cry, it was the question that entered my mind of when exactly did I let go of that part of my life? At exactly what point in time did it all stop? Then a flood of memories from a lifetime came rushing in to reveal the hills and valleys that have led me to the point where I'm at today.

Day 2 - True Stories - Letters and Numbers. These photos and numbers came to mind right away when thinking about today's prompt. I thought of even more numbers related to football after I completed the layout and may just go back and edit this layout to include numbers in the score of the game, numbers that the coach works with, yard line numbers on the field, play numbers, etc.

I have taken on yet another online class. I'm confident that this one will help improve my journaling as well as giving me the boost I needed to start a journal/notebook with my thoughts, my memories, my feelings..........my stories.

I chose to create a layout from one of my FAQs from the prompts for Day 1. It has actually ended up serving two purposes. My children are often asking me for my recipes for various dishes we've had when they were still home. With the question and story from "What's for Dinner", I decided to not only tell my story about being harassed by my husband as to what's for dinner, but to add my recipe for my potato soup for them as well.

I'm participating in the "Picture Fall" challenge with Tracey Clark at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Not only am I taking a photo-a-day for the month of October (actually I'm taking more than one depending on the daily inspiration), I've decided to create layouts with my photos as I go along. We're only into the 3rd day of the challenge, but I've taken 10 photos already and those are only the ones I decided to keep.

I thought I'd share my layouts here and I'll be posting the photos by themselves on my Photography Blog.

New Blog.......Again!

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, always having to change things when they're not broke. But I took a Blogger class at Jessica Sprague and learned how to design my own blog and here it is. But, if you know me.......I'm sure to make changes along the line.

AND, another cool thing about Blogger is that you can have a book printed of your blog, which is just what I intend to do at year's end.

I hope you visit often to see previews of my new products, catch some freebies here on the blog and see my layouts too.

This is my latest layout of both my oldest grandsons at one of their football games. There's nothing like watching your grandkids play ball and your son coaching!!
